5 types of defensive adaptations to developmental trauma

Excellent insight into the impact of childhood experiences on our lives and the NARM approach to treating developmental trauma.

The NARM approach provides valuable insights into how childhood experiences can affect our lives and offers a powerful tool for addressing developmental trauma.

If we do not receive the support we need at different stages of development, we can become disconnected from our emotions, needs and bodily sensations.

This often leads to the development of defence mechanisms and strategies that we continue to use later in life, even when they no longer serve us - sometimes to our detriment.

At the core of our adaptations is the feeling of not being loved. It is important to recognise these patterns and work through them in order to live a more fulfilling life.

Many thanks to journalist Nataša Zupanc for thoroughly covering this topic.
