Podcast: What lies beneath recurrent partner conflicts?

The discussion revealed the challenges of modern partnership, which often stem from unresolved negative early childhood experiences and the resulting unconscious patterns of emotion, communication and behaviour.

Dr Metka Kuhar hosted Mojca and Primož Šema, therapists, spouses and parents of three sons, who help individuals and couples in various situations of distress in their "Varna baza".

They provide couples therapy based on the principles of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, which is one of the most researched and proven effective approaches for working with couples. Its founder is Dr. Sue Johnson, a clinical psychologist, couple therapist and long-time university professor and researcher in partner relationships and couple therapy at the University of Ottawa, Canada. In the process of this type of therapy, the therapist helps the couple to identify the negative cycles of interaction that repeatedly pull the couple deeper into conflict.
